Fairy Nook
Summary:
What I Liked:
Music and Art Style really set the atmosphere of the game well. I'm a sucker for 2d + 3d elements combined. It really fits the fairy tale vibe.
Bugphobia mode - love us some accessibility
It's great to see some disability representation
I love the fact that it can save over the web! I feel like a lot of web games don't have that feature -- this is a good reminder to go back to Going Home and add that feature.
What Could Be Changed:
The dark brown text could be darker to make the text higher contrast against the cream background. Right now the Foreground:#896B59 against the Background: #d4bd9d has a contrast ratio of 2.68:1 (See example here)
This game seems like it could be a great candidate for a one-button design mode. Each of the available actions on the screen could be added to a queue the user iterates through by pressing their one button. A timer could keep track of how long the user is on any action, and if the timer runs out, that option is selected. I.E. If the options available to the player are Ink, Dandelion, or Menu, pressing the space bar would iterate through that list. Waiting 3 seconds while Ink was selected would start a dialogue with Ink.
